we recommend restoring a rug that is hand-knotted.
CAT DAMAGE
we recommend restoring a rug that holds some sentimental value. The edges of your rug are protected by
an overcasted strand of wool that behaves like
a precious hand-woven cover, which at times can also be
artistically made of different colors and patterns.
The “side cords” - the ending warps on each long end of your rug
are to be shielded at all times to prevent any structural
and deeper damage to the artpiece.
Improper vacuuming and/or normal wear and tear
can disrupt the binding and its protection
putting your rug at risk.

Improper vacuuming or
normal wear and tear
can disrupt the binding
and its protection.
PROBLEM:
SOLUTION:
Our masterweavers
will skilfully reweave
the overcast carefully
choosing the most
suitable color for your rug.
The binding will be sparkly new
and its Body Guard function
will be restored to its max.The chain that protects your rug
got loose and the pile is coming off
the fringe and the design is losing
pieces
1) Remove some of the pile
2) Liberate some of the original fringe*
*the warps constituting the body of the rug
3) Hand-knot a chain of knots
*to protect the new fringe
The fringe is the body of the rug!
It is the ending part of the warps
used to create the foundation
of any hand-knotted piece
which is then cut and secured by a horizontal chain of knots
that will protect the integrity of the design
impeding the pile from coming loose.
When wear and tear
and vacuuming mistakes happen,
that chain can loosen
or completely slip away from the rug.
The fringe is the eye-liner of your rug.
It will define the gaze, enhance its magnetism
and frame the uniqueness of the entire look.
It adds to the beauty of the final piece of art, it’s a sneak peek into the taste of the artist weaver that hand-knotted your rug and it luxuriously embroiders your floor, stretching out flawlessly like a peacock tail.
Watch out for wear and tear

PROBLEM:
SOLUTION:
This look does not suit every rug:
we will be more than happy to give you our professional opinion
so that you can decide whether or not to proceed with this option.
Again, do not worry!
Should this process not suit your rug,
we have other methods to restore or protect the fringe.
THE FRINGE IS NOT SECURED ANYMORE,
YOU CAN SEE LOOSE THREADS COMING OUT OF THE RUG
THE FRINGE IS NOT SECURED ANYMORE,
YOU CAN SEE THE KNOTS COMING OUT OF THE RUGWe can give it bangs, a new bob,
or just a quick snip to get rid of split ends.
Et voila’!
Your rug is ready to be the star of your upcoming party!
We can reweave an
entirely new fringe that
will look completely natural.
It will seem as if nobody ever
repaired your rug!
A structural enhancement done exclusively by hand,
this method is recommended also when you just want to give a
facelift to your short or worn fringe, but you want to preserve the
original design of the rugn and therefore not remove any part of
the pile to liberate the original fringe as in the Original Fringe
method ( ).
The new natural fringe can be of any length you desire,
and it can be finished with a minimal look, hand-knotting
a chain of knots to secure it, or crafting precious and
sophisticated patterns playing with a sequence of
elaborate knots.
